Manpreet & Komal - Next Day Edit

Manpreet & Komal - Next Day Edit

It's no secret that East Indian weddings are my favourite. It's the colours, the different traditions and the scale of the receptions that provide so much opportunity for us to be creative film makers. It also helps when the couple is as wonderful as Manpreet and Komal were all week.

The NDE (Next day Edit) is just a little taste of all the events that take place during the week. For this edit, I found it really difficult to keep it short. At 9 minutes, it's still pretty long for this type of edit but I could have made it 15 minutes with all the fantastic footage that came in from all my different shooters. I only wish I could show you guys the footage we captured at the reception now too. (You're just going to have to wait for the the cinematic feature film!). Let me just say,  Events by Emma knocked it out of the park. It was, in a word, breathtaking.

So, without further ado:

Simmi & Kunit - Next Day Edit

Simmi and Kunit had an amazing wedding week. We were privileged enough to have been part of the celebration and to put together this edit of the week's events to show at the reception.

Special thanks go out to Events By Emma for the flawless reception (which will be featured in the final video later) and the impeccable itinerary they helped put together for the week. BLF Studios... what can I say? Amazing photography but also a real pleasure to work with, family or not!

Here's the edit...

Ruby & Tanner - Next Day Edit

Ruby & Tanner - Next Day Edit

Not to get all spiritual, but they say that the energy you put out into the universe attracts similar energy back to you. That must be the reason that Ruby and Tanner are surrounded by so much love.  Having spent the last 4 days with them, the overwhelming memory for me is how often and how easily the both smile. I loved every minute of this shoot.

Looking through all the footage in putting together this next day edit, there is actually a singular moment that really struck me. It is not even half a second. When Ruby is leaning against a pillar at the Legislative building and Tanner comes up beside her to give her a kiss on the cheek, she closes her eyes for a tiny moment. For me, time slows down in that instant and, quite beside the fact that it's a wedding day and they have 4 cameras pointed at them, this is just a couple who dig the hell out of each other, sharing a moment and loving just being near each other. That's the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.

Hands down, best food I've ever had at a wedding too. In fact, every vendor that was a part of this wedding was just perfect.  It was a pleasure to finally get to work with the photographer Trevor Brucki after all these years. I have included some of my favourite still frames in this post, but head over to Trevor's blog here to see the photos.

Enjoy the video...

Aman & Amrit - Next Day Edit

I approached this edit a little differently than the way I usually do my Next Day Edits. I wanted to include as much of what happened as possible. The wedding week took place in Winnipeg but the reception was in Vancouver so the goal was to give all the Vancouver guests who couldn't make the celebration in Winnipeg a full picture of what it was like.

The couple flew me to the reception in Vancouver too and I was lucky enough to spend the day shooting them all around the city. We got some truly spectacular footage that you will be able to see in the full cinematic edit when it's ready.

Here is the NDE....
