Chandra & Chris Cinematic Edit

Chandra & Chris Cinematic Edit

It rained that day. Thankfully it waited till the outdoor ceremony was over, but honestly, even if it had poured all through the ceremony, the amount of love and good feelings surrounding Chandra and Chris would have kept us all warm.

I really enjoyed the whole process from our initial meeting, through getting to know everyone a little better throughout the day, to adding the finishing touches to the final cinematic edit. Working with Tammy from Divine Weddings made the day run smooth as silk. And the Danny Kramer Band killed it on the dance floor too. There's nothing like live music.

Fun times for all...

Sports Hall of Fame

The fun part about being an audiovisual storyteller is that I get to tell stories of a lot of different types of things. We shoot a lot of events. Same principle as a wedding but we only get about 90 to 120 seconds to sum up a 5 or 6 hour event. Here is one we did recently for the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. I have never felt so short as I did standing next to an NBA basketball player. (And his speech was hilarious... you should get tickets for next year's event!)

Sherelle & Oliver

I just had the pleasure of dropping off Sherelle and Oliver's finished movie at their new house in a new development in Winnipeg yesterday. I love new beginnings. A fresh start. The first step on a long journey.

Oliver and Sherelle had lived across the street from each other for ages. They got together when Sherelle needed some help with her math skills. (Being an artist myself, I can totally relate!). Oliver pointed her in the right direction and clearly charmed his way into her heart!

When I shoot a wedding I get a unique window into people's family life and their relationships. The overwhelming impression from both families and also from Sherelle and Oliver, was a warmth and mutual respect. These are people who love life and love each other. At least, that's how it feels to be around them! Why don't you watch this and see what I mean...

Lana & Sean - Cinematic Feature

Lana & Sean - Cinematic Feature

Hand drawn notes with the gift for each grooms-man. Vera Wang dress and Jimmy Choo shoes. The fort Garry ballroom looking resplendent in the year's most elegant colours. There was an enormous amount of thought and attention to detail that went into this wedding celebration. And what a great couple Lana and Sean make too.

My favourite parts of the day had to be the father of the Bride's speech and the live band playing as every single person in the room was in that big circle on the dance floor. I also love the open emotion that both Sean and his father-in-law-to-be showed at the first look in the hotel. Priceless. It's those real moments of joy that are the highlight of my day.

I'll let the cinematic feature tell you the rest of the story...

Cinematic Feature - Somsamay & Jason

There was laughter. There were tears. Most of all there was a whole lot of fun.

I learned the Thavisone family recipe for egg salad sandwiches. I found out that the bride went to the same school as my wife did and that the MOH (Maid of Honour) was the sister of my poker buddy's wife. That's Winnipeg. Well, actually, that's Morden for you! (That's where everybody was from, originally!)

It was fantastic working on a wedding planned by Tammy from Divine Weddings. Smooth as silk. The Fort Garry reception room that she put together was understated and charming, just like the couple! And the florals were done my my good friend Peggy from the Little Flower Shop. Gorgeous.

Congrats again Somsamay and Jason. It was great to share the day with you and I hope the movie brings back all those great memories for you for years to come.
