Stephanie & Ian - A Gimli Wedding

Stephanie & Ian - A Gimli Wedding

OK, I admit it. Sometimes this job is more fun than actual work. When you have a couple who are this much fun to be around, and a bunch of friends who put the "party" in wedding party... the results speak for themselves.

Stephanie and Ian wrote their own vows. I love this because it's a window into who they are as people and as a couple. And Jeanette Bridget put together a fantastic ceremony that incorporated both the Jewish and Viking elements just beautifully. But the thing I found most touching about this whole experience was the letter Steph's mom wrote and kept with her wedding dress (which Steph ultimately ended up not wearing) when her daughter was just 2. Just a perfect treasure to find on your wedding day for a young bride about to take the leap of faith. This should be a thing. If you're a past, present or future bride with a daughter, get on that right now!

But first watch this video...

Jillian & Mike - A Winter Winnipeg Wedding

Jillian & Mike - A Winter Winnipeg Wedding

There are some couples who just DIG each other. Jillian and Mike are one of those couples. When you spend any more than a couple of minutes with them, either individually, or together, you just start feeling better about things.  They have what I call an effervescent love.

From the surprise proposal (shot by the Bombers guys, who Mike was playing for at the time) to the final carriage ride, you just can't help feeling inspired by the whole experience. It's impossible to pick favorites from all the wedding stories we have told over the years, but this one is definitely up there with the best!

Thanks so much to both families for being awesome.

And especially thanks to all the great vendors who made up our wedding dream team.

Jaimee & Oscar

Every so often in this job you stumble across a couple who dig each other so much, that it's infectious. You end up loving everyone around you that little bit more.  You enjoy the moment more. And when they say their vows, you are bursting with emotion for them. Jaimee and Oscar are that kind of couple. It was truly a pleasure to be part of this celebration.

And to anyone considering getting married in Clear Lake, Call me... that place is spectacular!

We shot both photo and video for this wedding. Video takes a very long time to edit, so here is a sneak peek at some of the photos that caught my attention when I was backing them up onto our servers...

Chandra & Chris Cinematic Edit

It rained that day. Thankfully it waited till the outdoor ceremony was over, but honestly, even if it had poured all through the ceremony, the amount of love and good feelings surrounding Chandra and Chris would have kept us all warm.

I really enjoyed the whole process from our initial meeting, through getting to know everyone a little better throughout the day, to adding the finishing touches to the final cinematic edit. Working with Tammy from Divine Weddings made the day run smooth as silk. And the Danny Kramer Band killed it on the dance floor too. There's nothing like live music.

Fun times for all...

Sherelle & Oliver

I just had the pleasure of dropping off Sherelle and Oliver's finished movie at their new house in a new development in Winnipeg yesterday. I love new beginnings. A fresh start. The first step on a long journey.

Oliver and Sherelle had lived across the street from each other for ages. They got together when Sherelle needed some help with her math skills. (Being an artist myself, I can totally relate!). Oliver pointed her in the right direction and clearly charmed his way into her heart!

When I shoot a wedding I get a unique window into people's family life and their relationships. The overwhelming impression from both families and also from Sherelle and Oliver, was a warmth and mutual respect. These are people who love life and love each other. At least, that's how it feels to be around them! Why don't you watch this and see what I mean...
